Fragrant Coffee: How to Choose Your Coffee Beans
A cup of fragrant coffee is like a gift from nature. With its rich aroma and mellow taste, let us immerse ourselves in its charm and enjoy the wonderful time it brings!
A cup in the morning will refresh your mind; a cup at noon will soothe your stomach; a cup in the afternoon will save your soul.
Do you know? In recent years, coffee has become an indispensable life-sustaining necessity for many people every day. If you don’t have a cup every day, you will feel really tired. In order to drink a cup of cost-effective coffee that suits their taste anytime and anywhere, many people will directly buy some instant coffee, hanging coffee or coffee beans. How can you choose the cup that suits you?
To put it simply, traditional instant coffee uses the spray drying method, which is cost-effective, but it will lose a certain amount of coffee flavor and aroma and needs to be brewed with hot water.
Independently sealed and packaged ear-hanging coffee is more convenient. As long as you have a cup nearby and add an appropriate amount of warm water, you can drink it with a taste similar to freshly ground coffee.
If you like the aroma of freshly ground coffee, you can choose coffee beans according to your preference, extract espresso with a fully automatic coffee machine, Americano coffee machine or other equipment, or use hand brewing or drip filtering methods for refining. Here are some best sellers on Amazon.
However, there are many varieties of coffee beans. If you want to drink a cup of good coffee yourself, you need to carefully study the varieties, origins, and roasting methods of coffee beans. Now let’s share with you some knowledge about coffee beans, and read on!
Classification and characteristics of coffee beans
There are only three native varieties of coffee beans with real commercial value in the world, namely Arabica, Robusta, and Liberia. There are certain differences among the three in terms of cultivation characteristics, caffeine content, and taste.
1.Arabica species
Proportion: Production accounts for about 70% of the global total.
Appearance: The bean is small in shape, the front is oblong, the crack in the middle is narrow and tortuous, and the arc shape on the back of the bean is relatively flat.
Disadvantages: The planting conditions are demanding, it must grow on high-altitude slopes, and it must be harvested manually.
Advantages: Excellent bean aroma, balanced taste, low caffeine content. It is the only coffee among native species that can be drunk directly and alone, and has become synonymous with specialty coffee.
If you are looking for texture, Arabica beans are an excellent choice.
2.Robusta
Proportion: Production accounts for about 30% of the global total.
Appearance: Large bean shape, gradually rounded on the front, round and convex on the back, with straight cracks.
Disadvantages: The taste is more bitter than Arabica coffee beans, and the caffeine content is twice that of Arabica coffee beans.
Advantages: It can grow in lowlands below 500 meters above sea level. It is highly adaptable, resistant to severe cold, and resistant to pests and diseases. It bears fruit faster than Arabica beans and is easy to cultivate.
If you want a light-speed pick-me-up, Robusta is undoubtedly a good choice. Having a drink is full of fuel and your work efficiency will skyrocket.
Proportion: Production accounts for less than 5% of the global total.
Appearance: Bean-shaped and slender, with large particles, slightly pointed head, and shaped like a small boat.
Disadvantages: Higher caffeine content and bitter taste.
Advantages: Strong adaptability to the planting environment, fast fruiting, not susceptible to insect pests, and lower planting costs.
There is little market demand for Liberian beans, and they are only traded and sold within some countries in West Africa, such as Libya and Cote d’Ivoire.
